Camagüey, Dec. — The first SUMAI store in Camagüey has begun its operational trial phase, marking a significant advancement in cooperation between China and Cuba within the framework of the Latin America Investment and Trade Platform (PICLA).
The president of PICLA, Huang Qiao Ming (Simon), highlighted through his Facebook account the joint effort of executives and officials from the Ministry of Domestic Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Investment, as well as the Local Government and other economic actors who have been fundamental in this process. “SUMAI arrives to establish itself as an ally towards a better life,” he affirmed.
SUMAI is a digital supply platform that leverages e-commerce technology, offering logistical and financial services, as well as focusing on educational and cultural areas. Its goal is to interconnect both nations and promote the development of key sectors.
Yennis León Mayedo, vice governor of Camagüey, emphasized the opportunities this platform offers thanks to the joint management of all economic actors and the participation of the population. According to him, several projects related to renewable energy, employment options, and the acquisition of products at competitive prices will be developed.
The vice governor also mentioned other priority areas being worked on as part of the territory’s political will, including agriculture, transportation, community activities, and the improvement of urban spaces.
The inauguration of the store, located on the central Maceo Street in the city of Camagüey, was attended by Madiu Quiroga Gómez, commercial director of Dofimall and coordinator of PICLA in Camagüey, as well as Robert Larrinaga, director of the Camagüey Commerce Business Group.
This new project promises to generate a positive impact on the community, boosting the economic and social development of the region.
