In Camagüey, nearly 50 percent of the meetings scheduled for this period to discuss the draft Labor Code have been held to date.
According to Richard Ramírez Arias, a member of the secretariat of the provincial committee of the Cuban Workers' Central (CTC), although slightly more projects have been carried out than planned for that date, various reasons have led to the suspension of other projects, which will later be resumed.
As the labor leader also explained, the most important aspect of the process is gathering opinions and suggestions, and to date, nearly 4,500 contributions and more than 2,030 proposals have been collected.
Among the main topics are work and the need for a decent wage, the importance of establishing a schedule for multiple jobs, and the approval of this option for executives and officials.
The Agramonte workers have also advocated for paid leave, regardless of the cause; the establishment of time limits for requesting sick leave; and payment of 60 percent of their salary for the duration of the impact that led to the work interruption.
Despite the publicity surrounding the process, meeting minutes have been found in which those present neither proposed nor gave their opinions, especially in the Sierra de Cubitas and Najasa areas, as Ramírez Arias pointed out.
Es en ese sentido que se aboga por el intercambio previo sobre elementos que dicta el anteproyecto para ganar en comprensión.
In the province of Agramonte, one of the sectors making progress in the consultation is Communications, Information Technology, and Electronics, according to María de los Ángeles Mesa, general secretary of the Provincial Bureau of that union, who spoke to Radio Reloj.
Among the proposals emanating from this union are those related to additional pay for those who take on extra duties due to the absence of colleagues and the reduction of social service from three years to two.
Meanwhile, non-state workers praised the wage protection that would be achieved in cases of work interruption, termination of employment, or dissolution of the entity.
Each idea or opinion, as Ramírez Arias summarized, will enrich the legal text, which will be approved by the Cuban Parliament.
