Guáimaro, November 12 - The training of mid-level technicians in Guáimaro is today one of the main challenges of Technical Professional Education (TPE), due to its impact on local development and the coverage of specialized labor force.
Currently, more than 90 students are being trained at the Agropecuario Polytechnic Institute (IPA) Levantamiento de Jucaral, specializing in Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine, as part of the territory's agro-industrial program.
The teaching staff consists of a veterinarian, an agronomist engineer, a teacher in training, and five graduates in fields not directly related to the agricultural profile, which represents a limitation for the quality of professional training.
The institution has eight basic areas designated for the fulfillment of the curriculum, the development of technical skills, and the implementation of agricultural programs linked to food sovereignty. Among these, there are notable plots for cultivating medicinal plants and vegetables, an intensive garden, an interest in vermiculture, composting, as well as pastures and fodder.
As part of the training process, students join annex classrooms in productive entities, where they apply the knowledge acquired in theoretical classes under the guidance of sector specialists.
