China, Aug 17.- New energy vehicle sales represented, for the first time in July, more than 60 percent of new automobiles marketed in China, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported today.
The cumulative total for the first seven months of the year also exceeded 50 percent of total new vehicle sales for the first time.
In July, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.576 million and 1.561 million units, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 26.8 and 23.7 percent.
Pure electric automobiles exceeded one million units in both production and sales during the month, with growth rates higher than 30 percent in both indicators.
Between January and July, China produced 9.014 million and sold 9.007 million new energy vehicles, with year-on-year increases of nearly 10 percent.
Total automobile production in the country reached 17.567 million units in the first seven months, while sales reached 17.602 million.
Exports maintained their growth and reached 1.043 million units in July, 81.3 percent more than in the same month of the previous year, and for the second consecutive month above one million.
New energy vehicle shipments abroad totaled 553,000 units, a 1.5-fold year-on-year increase, accounting for more than half of automotive exports for the second consecutive month.
From January to July, total automobile exports amounted to 6.14 million units, a 66.8 percent year-on-year increase, while new energy vehicle exports reached 2.909 million, 1.2 times higher than the same period in 2025.
