Unlimited Vietnam-Cuba cooperation in science and technology is foreseen

Hanoi, Apr. 23.- The President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Tran Hong Thai, stated today that cooperation with Cuba in these areas will develop across all possible fields and without limits.

"We are going to define the missions and tasks to be deployed in a short time, not only in research but also in the manufacturing of products that benefit the health of our peoples," stated the member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) during a meeting with the Vice President of the BioCubaFarma business group, Santiago Dueñas.

Hong Thai emphasized that scientific cooperation, particularly in biotechnology and the biopharmaceutical industry, is a relevant topic in high-level discussions between both countries, and announced the creation of a working group within the Academy tasked with materializing collaboration in these spheres.

He also highlighted the great potential that exists to, by leveraging joint intelligence, create goods and generate income, and placed the institution's facilities at the disposal of Cuban scientists to carry out research projects.

The head of the Academy of Science and Technology shared his views during a meeting prior to the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Group of Cuba (BioCubaFarma) and the Institutes of Chemistry, Biology, and Materials Science of Vietnam.

On this occasion, the Cuban Ambassador, Rogelio Polanco, noted that the signing of this agreement will make an important contribution to achieving the extraordinary objectives set by Vietnam in its socio-economic development program, as well as to the plans established by Cuba in the same sense.

"Our peoples," the diplomat said, "need concrete and rapid results, not only for the benefit of Vietnam and Cuba, but for all of humanity."

For his part, the Vice President of BioCubaFima thanked Hong Thai for the offer made to Cuban researchers and for the demonstrated will to not only expand but also accelerate joint projects.

Dueñas agreed that the potential areas of collaboration are vast and unlimited, and placed more than a thousand products and over 400 research projects that make up the business group's portfolio at the service of this effort.

"Our best experts and projects will be available for this cooperation," he said, while also extending an invitation to Vietnamese researchers to work on joint programs in Cuba.

During the meeting, the Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Chu Hoang Ha, expressed hope for relevant results from this collaboration and also expressed satisfaction that Vietnamese experts could gain from the experience accumulated by Cuba in these fields.
