Havana, Dec. 31 - The Cuban Federation of Canine Sports announced in this capital its best delegation and team: Matanzas and the breeding duo from Camagüey, respectively.
In both cases, they stood out due to the results of their management this year, particularly for having served with quality and efficiency as hosts of specialized events, Norma Rodríguez Argüelles, president of the organization, informed the Cuban News Agency.
She mentioned the fact that the Matanzas team organized the 19th Athens Cup of Cuba, considered the longest-running event in the sector, and the National Agility Championship.
The first of these took place near the city viaduct, featuring events such as obedience circuit, lure retrieving, frisbee catching, 60 and 100 meters sprints, high jump and long jump, agility, and the 110-meter hurdles race.
Meanwhile, the Camagüey team held the August 13 Cup, in homage to the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro in 2026, and Expocan 2025.
In this last competition, breeders and their dogs of all breeds participated, the best pairs in the country competing in 11 disciplines seeking the championship in each category.
She added that eight teams took part in the event at the Patricio Lumumba Athletics Track, and the winners of the first three places received medals in each category and the trophy for the Champion Team.
They competed in agility, obedience, frisbee catching, lure retrieving, 10-meter sprints, 60-meter sprints and hurdles, and jumps in height, length, and scaling.
The Cuban Federation of Canine Sports is supported by the Recreation Directorate of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation, and is affiliated with the Cuban Olympic Committee.
Its Expocan 2025 serves as a commemoration of the National Day of Physical Culture and Sports every November 19, in compliance with Decree No. 128 issued in January 1985 by the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers.
