Santo Domingo, March 2nd.- The Dominican government electrified 65 homes through the installation of solar panels and batteries in the municipality of Sabana Larga, San José de Ocoa province, and announced the implementation of more than 30 new energy projects in that southern district.

The photovoltaic systems were installed through the Directorate of Rural and Suburban Electrification, attached to the Vice Ministry of Energy, benefiting residents of the areas of El Bejucal, El Montazo, El Canal, and Derrico Blanco.

The project included the electrification of each home, with the installation of 325 LED-type bulbs, 195 outlets, and 65 distribution panels. Additionally, more than 14,000 feet of cables were laid, ensuring a stable and safe electrical supply.

The provincial governor, Josefa Castillo, and the mayor of San José de Ocoa, Fernando Castillo, highlighted the positive impact that accessing electrical service for the first time represents for these communities, as well as the opportunities this energy source offers for the development of activities that had previously been impossible.

Upcoming projects include the construction of small hydroelectric plants, the extension and rehabilitation of networks, and the installation of lighting and solar panels.
