In an important step toward promoting cultural exchange, the Alicia Alonso International Ballet Festival of Havana was formally admitted as a member of the prestigious Silk Road Arts Festival Network.
The certificate certifying this membership was received by Viengsay Valdés, general director of the National Ballet of Cuba.
The ceremony took place during the 24th CSIAF (ChinaSPAF) Performing Arts Fair, which takes place from October 17 to 20 at the BOCOM NEW BUND 31 Performing Arts Center in Shanghai.
This event coincides with the opening week of the annual China International Arts Festival in the eastern metropolis, a premier stage for global performing arts.
Valdés, who is attending the fair as a guest of honor, actively participated in the event in her capacity as president of the Cuban Ballet Festival.
During the first day of the event, he presented a detailed historical summary of the Havana festival, supported by significant audiovisual material.
Their presentation reviewed the event's history from its founding in 1960 to the present day, highlighting its continued prestige as one of the world's most important performing dance festivals.
The presentation was attended by Alberto J. Blanco Silva, Cuban ambassador to China, and Mileidy Aguirre Díaz, Cuban Consul General in Shanghai, highlighting the diplomatic and cultural significance of the event.
This inclusion in the Silk Road network places the Cuban festival on a global map of cultural cooperation, facilitating future collaborations and greater international exposure in the field of dance.
