Jan, 2026.- Just a few hours ago, I was chatting with two curious little pioneers from the Rafael Morales Primary School in Guáimaro. With enthusiasm, I asked them: Did you know there is a book that seems made of stars and dreams? The answer came instantly: "The Golden Age!" they both exclaimed.
In Daniela and Carlitos' eyes, the light of knowledge lit up. They spoke to me with such affection about José Martí, assuring me that in his beautiful book the teacher kept stories and poems for all the children of America, and did so with the hope that every word would sow kindness in their hearts.
Encouraged by the pleasant exchange, I reminded them that in its precious pages lives Pilar, the little girl who turns tenderness into treasure. When you read and listen to her poem, you feel it like a soft melody that teaches that innocence and purity of the soul can make the world more beautiful.
I also told them about The Black Doll, a story in which true friendship shines. There we learn that affection is not measured by appearances, but by the sincerity of feelings. Piedad and her Leonor, a differently abled girl, teach us that we are all valuable and that diversity is a source of joy.
And here is the story of Meñique, a little hero determined to prove that intelligence and humility are mightier than strength. His adventure tells us that size doesn't matter, but the greatness of the heart and the wisdom to face challenges do.
Martí dreamed of children who would be good, just, and brave. That is how we will be! That was his promise and my greatest satisfaction. It was a heartfelt experience lived, a new opportunity to understand the wonderful action of life present in the text *The Golden Age*, a work that should never be missing from the bedside table.
