Guáimaro, February 10th - Guáimaro celebrates its 235th anniversary of founding. The austerity demanded by the times does not diminish the pride of being part of this land where the Republic of Cuba in Arms was born, in 1869.

February 10, 1791, is the date accepted by the majority of historians as the founding of the town, as it coincides with the baptism of the boy Andrés María Millán de la Cruz by the parish priest Friar Gregorio de Jesús Caballero, who then opened the first registry book of baptism records for white and Spanish persons.

But the history of the Cradle of the Constitution dates back years ago, when the indigenous culture colored the corners of the region with mestizo tones.

The pride of being Guáimareños resonates louder than the urgencies of the times, and we celebrate 235 Februaries with a view toward a future where Guáimaro continues to mark years of life, legacy, and identity.
