Dec, 2025.- On the morning of December 4, 2016, silence fell reverently as the Tribute Caravan, carrying the ashes of Commander Fidel Castro Ruz, crossed the Central Highway. It was no ordinary passage; it was history itself retracing the path of the Revolution, linking the west with the east like a thread of memory stitching the entire nation together.
In every face of Guáimaro’s people reflected gratitude and commitment. The elderly recalled the days when hope rose from the Sierra, the youth discovered in Fidel’s figure the root of their dreams, and entire families joined in a silent applause, full of respect. The people knew that this passage was not a farewell but a reaffirmation: Fidel rests in his beloved and rebellious east, and his spirit lives on in every act of dedication and dignity.
The caravan carried more than ashes; it carried the glory of a man who knew how to condense greatness into a single kernel of corn—simple and fertile, capable of multiplying and spreading throughout all of America. That symbol, as humble as it was powerful, became the metaphor for his legacy: the seed that germinates in every conscience, blooms in acts of justice, and expands beyond borders.
Guáimaro, a land of history and rebellion, confirmed in that moment its responsibility to the values embodied by Fidel: loyalty to the people, defense of sovereignty, faith in unity, the certainty that dignity is non-negotiable.
Today, on the ninth anniversary of that memorable passage, the people of Guáimaro gratefully recognize themselves as heirs to that work and guardians of that memory.
