Guáimaro, November 16.- In the municipality of Guáimaro, multiple educational initiatives are being developed to promote breastfeeding, a practice considered vital for the health and development of children.
However, studies conducted in the area reveal an increase in the number of women who interrupt this process before the time recommended by health specialists.
In light of this situation, the work of professionals linked to the Maternal-Child Care Program (PAMI), a priority of the Cuban healthcare system, is being reinforced. The objective is to raise awareness among pregnant women and their families about the importance of maintaining this type of feeding during the first months of the baby's life.
Experts in the field emphasize that breast milk provides essential nutrients for growth and protects against diarrheal and respiratory diseases, in addition to strengthening the emotional bond between mother and child.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and its continuation, along with appropriate complementary nutrition, until the age of two. (Photo taken from the Internet)
