Sexuality is a topic that is rarely discussed within families, sometimes due to taboos passed down from generation to generation and other times because we believe it is not the right time to talk about it.
In Guáimaro, this is one of the concerns of specialists from the General Directorate of Public Health, as evidenced by research conducted in the area.
One issue highlighted in studies across different areas of the city is the low risk perception among younger generations. Therefore, it is vital to strengthen dialogue and trust between children and parents in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
According to Arelis Laguna González, a promotion specialist at the Victoria de Girón Polyclinic, talks and exchanges are being held as part of the municipality's efforts to provide sex education to adolescents and young adults.
