Guáimaro facing challenges regarding the quality of electrical service

Guáimaro, January 2nd - The construction of a new five-megawatt photovoltaic solar park in Guáimaro is one of the main projects that will engage the team at the Base Business Unit (UEB) Electric of this municipality throughout 2026.

Engineer Juan Luis Ramayo Guerra, director of the entity, highlights that the installation of the innovative technology in Las Colinas, featuring one megawatt of storage capacity, will help balance the losses or drops in voltage and power that may occur due to variations in light intensity. At the same time, it represents a further step in the process of transforming the country's energy matrix.

At the moment, the project is in the preparation phase with the collaboration of workers from the military units of Antilla and Cayo Cruz, according to Lázaro del Risco Fernández, Networks and Systems specialist and second-in-command of this mission.

Faced with the need for trained personnel, the unit is calling for mid-level technicians and higher education graduates in Electricity and Civil Construction, as well as architects, to complete the staff that will participate in the execution of the project.

The Guáimaro Electric UEB finished 2025 in first place at the provincial level, among other aspects due to the results in attending to the population's demands related to primary and secondary issues, even under difficult working conditions caused by fuel, transportation, oil, and other supply limitations.

Among the objectives for the current year, in addition to advancing the installation of the photovoltaic park near the border with Las Tunas province, they plan to reduce the number of damaged transformers and maintain the quality of service provision.
