Guáimaro, December 27 — The most outstanding athletes from Guáimaro in 2025 were honored this Friday by the Department of Sports of the easternmost municipality in Camagüey province, during a ceremony held at the recreational and dining complex El Patio. The event was attended by workers from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) of the region, family members, fans, and sports radio press.

The best male athlete was Yonimiller Mendoza, a member of the “Toros de la Llanura,” the local pitcher with the most achievements in the Camagüey baseball tournament, the second most successful in the province during the Under-23 category, and participant in the national competition of this sport, with three wins and an equal number of losses.

Yarisleidys Borcillí Oro, a graduate of the “Cerro Pelado” Sports Initiation School (EIDE) in Agramonte, earned first place among women for her accomplishments as provincial pioneer champion and national bronze medalist in taekwondo.
