Guáimaro, January 24 - The National Fire Protection Exercise in the easternmost municipality of Camagüey took place this Saturday with training aimed at strengthening the capacities for timely and effective response to this type of events.

Leading the activity, Ariel Ramos Rojas, head of Civil Defense in Guáimaro, addressed the phases of a forest fire, similar to those of the hurricane season; as well as the responsibilities of the response team involving various institutions and agencies of the Central State Administration.

Representatives of the Ranger Corps highlighted as a goal for 2026 of that body of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) the prevention of accidents in forested areas and zones included in the Plan Imagen, adjacent to the Central Highway, that could endanger human lives, the environment, and the economy.
In this regard, they called for the unity of all parties and compliance with control measures during the current dry period, which extends until the month of May.

At a second stage, led by the main leaders of the Guama Defense Council, including the First Secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Alexander Massagué Álvarez, and the President of the People's Power Assembly, Yelenis Saavedra Tamayo, the subgroups of local entities reviewed their wartime functions as part of this year’s defensive preparation.
