Apple and Google have blocked downloads of at least two smartphone apps that allowed users to report the location of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The move comes days after the Trump administration, through Attorney General Pam Bondi, requested the removal of IceBlock, a popular iPhone app.
Apple removed IceBlock and other similar apps, claiming they "violate group policies by providing location information to law enforcement officers that can be used to harm them individually or collectively."
Google followed suit and removed the IceBlock-like Red Dot app from the Play Store.
IceBlock had reached one million total downloads since its launch last April.
The app's developer, Joshua Aaron, argued in a statement that recording ICE activities in the United States is a First Amendment right and that he will challenge the decision.
