New Donated Equipment Benefits Ozone Therapy Service at Lenin Hospital in Holguín

A new piece of equipment donated by friends of Cuba in Chile is benefiting the ozone therapy service at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin University Teaching Hospital, where cancer patients from eastern Cuba are treated.

Victoria Martínez Escalona, a licensed nurse and operator of the technology, reported that the device is currently in the commissioning phase and will help make the application of rectal and infiltrated ozone safer and more efficient.

She specified that this technique benefits about 60 patients daily, not only those with tumors in different locations but also orthopedic patients who have difficulty walking.

Martínez Escalona emphasized that after several sessions, patients begin to experience an improvement in their health, making the equipment’s vitality essential.

She highlighted that oncological therapies are in high demand by many people, which causes wear and tear on the equipment and raises the cost of spare parts due to the coercive measures of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade by the United States against Cuba.

Ozone therapy is a treatment that helps improve oxygenation and circulation, modulate the immune system, and provide anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects, thereby facilitating wound healing and fighting infections.
