Children's circles: 65 years of a conquest (+ Photos)

Guáimaro, April 10—Two years after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, on April 10, 1961, the círculos infantiles (childcare centers) were established, providing care and early childhood education for the youngest children."

This initiative, conceived by the then-president of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), Vilma Espín Guillois, resulted in an achievement that, in its early stages, enabled women to take on diverse roles and allowed housewives to work as caregivers.

Today marks the 65th anniversary of the creation of such important institutions, where children learn to be independent, learn values such as friendship, industriousness, and companionship, and where their physical and mental development is enhanced."

Fidel expressed: "In children's circles, a child acquires their first social life habits." In this work, pedagogical assistants and teachers play a relevant role, as they ensure the care and safety of the infants, as well as provide guidance to families for the education of their children.
