Camagüey — The National Agricultural Projects Company (ENPA), based in this city, became the first of the 16 entities of its kind in Cuba to formalize its registration in the Commercial Registry as a state SME.
Luis Norberto Díaz Gómez, director of ENPA Camagüey SURL, explained that the entity's fundamental mission is to guarantee the stability of the agricultural investment system, through the design, development of investment, and also the provision of all permitting services.
According to Camagüey Television on its website, this new legal status will allow the company greater flexibility in commercial processes, contracting, and financial management, as well as access to benefits and programs designed for the development of state micro, small, and medium enterprises.
Among other potentialities, it highlights the direct importing capacity of equipment and resources necessary for strategic projects, which, in the opinion of the main representative, will have a direct impact on investments in Camagüey province.
Díaz Gómez highlighted the possibility of importing all equipment and media to be used, both in irrigation systems and in the designs they carry out.
In this sense, he pointed out, as a benefit, greater speed in the execution of works, and from the economic point of view for the territory, through tax contributions and payment to ONAT from the own district, adds the agramontino telecenter on its website.
ENPA Camagüey has highly qualified personnel that allows it to extend services to other agencies and sectors, hence, in addition to its fundamental activity, it executes initiatives related to the architecture of the city of Camagüey, and third-party services, where fishing, dairy, and other agencies appear.
For his part, José L. Nicado García, senior projects specialist, mentioned in statements to local television the experiences they already have in the PRODEGAN program, focused on livestock development in four municipalities of Camagüey, and work carried out for fishing, such as Estrella Roja, and tasks at the Santa Cruz dam, for fingerling production.
"We design and undertake the entire rice program development from the company, as well as the recovery of citrus in the municipality of Sierra de Cubitas, with all its irrigation systems," the executive remarked.
The new stage, after formalizing as a state SME, will require more management and capacity to search for own resources, he asserted, while reaffirming the willingness to work hard in resource management and the advancement of projects.
ENPA Camagüey SURL today also ventures into projects associated with the change in energy matrix and renewable energy, and designs for clients in the agricultural sector affected by the national energy situation.
According to the sources cited, the first projects will be carried out at the Agroindustrial Grain Company Ruta Invasora for the La Lima dryer, and at the provincial and municipal delegations of agriculture, under new contracting modalities.
At the ENPA Camagüey headquarters, they have already installed a five-kilowatt photovoltaic system that guarantees the continuity of project designers' work amid the difficulties in electrical service.
The conversion to state SME reinforces its commitment to administrative transparency, internal control — under Resolution 60/2011 — and innovation in agroindustrial engineering services.
With this renewal, the company becomes more dynamic and modern, which will favorably influence the promotion of local development programs and productive poles demanded by the extensive territory located in eastern-central Cuba.
