Camagüey – The Balance Assembly of the Raw Material Recovery Company became a space for in-depth analysis of the results achieved in recovering recyclable materials during 2025. Managers and workers agreed that, although significant progress was made, challenges remain that require immediate attention to ensure greater efficiency in the upcoming period.
The report presented showed that the province managed to maintain an average of two kilograms of recyclable waste per inhabitant per month, which allowed them to exceed the overall plan by 102%. However, not all Business Management Units (UEBs) met their goals; territories such as Céspedes, Guáimaro, and Santa Cruz showed low recovery levels, while the districts of Agüero and Mella, together with the municipality of Sierra de Cubitas, stood out for their superior results. This contrast highlighted the need to strengthen local management and provide better support to units facing greater difficulties.
Regarding products, good performance was recognized in the recovery of aluminum and plastics, which increased compared to previous years. Nonetheless, materials such as paper, cardboard, textile containers, and glass experienced a significant decline. Among the causes identified were the decrease in available scrap metal, the lack of timely analysis in business units, and weaknesses in the management of fixed collection points.
Participants also addressed structural problems affecting the company's efficiency. More than 40 transportation units were reported as out of service, overconsumption of fuel, and deficiencies in crane maintenance. Added to these were difficulties in marketing, such as accounts receivable and lack of trained specialized personnel, although a slight improvement in financial liquidity was acknowledged.
Looking ahead to 2026, the company set priorities to surpass current results by two percent, incorporate new fixed collection points such as Najasa, and continue with source sorting. Additionally, it plans to expand partnerships with emerging economic actors and strengthen staff training with the aim of consolidating internal security and better preparing for contingency scenarios.
