Camagüey—The raw material collection system in Camagüey responds to the strategy to accelerate the recovery of reusable waste among the population.
By the end of October, the leading entity in the recovery of solid waste in Camagüey has collected around 350 million pesos, which translates into exceeding its plans, and everything indicates that they will finish 2025 reaching the total expected, both in ferrous and non-ferrous materials, paper, plastic, and glass.
One of the approaches used by the Raw Materials Recovery Company of the province to increase production levels is the partnerships with new economic actors.
According to Alexander Aguilar González, director of the Raw Materials Company in Camagüey, this decision has allowed them to gain more than 8 million pesos, both through the agreement with a producer from the province of Villa Clara and with Alberto Ricardo Ávila, a self-employed worker residing in the city of Camagüey who has many projects in mind for recycling plastic.
For the past three years, the relationship with the Raw Materials Recovery Company has allowed Ricardo Ávila to fulfill commitments with that entity and also sell the objects he produces to commercial units in the territory, including cups, bowls, hangers, hairpins…
Alberto, just over 30 years old, found in the recovery and transformation of plastic a source of income to support his family, while serving as an example for his son who is training as a milling machine worker in polytechnic education.
Complying with Recycling Law 1288 is the main objective of the Raw Materials Recovery Company. This is an example of the existing potential between the socialist state company and non-state economic actors—a partnership in pursuit of recovery to continue decontaminating the present and ensuring the future.
