Central Siboney begins the 2025-2026 sugar harvest in Cuba

Camagüey, January 1st – The Siboney sugar mill, located in the Camagüey municipality of Sibanicú, has become the first in Cuba to start up its mills, marking the beginning of the 2025-2026 sugar harvest season in the country.

With the start of its operations, this industry commits to producing more than four thousand tons of raw sugar within 61 days of milling. To achieve this, it has around 63 thousand tons of sugarcane, mainly supplied by the production bases linked to the unit.

Once this main stage is completed, they will process an additional 20 thousand tons of sugarcane to obtain 1,500 tons of molasses. This strategy has proven effective in previous periods, generating economic income that directly benefits the workers.

Currently, 385 sugar workers are steadily employed at this mill, with the goal not only to meet production targets but also to contribute energy to the National Electrical System.

In the coming days, the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes mill will join the Siboney in the campaign, aiming to produce 10 thousand tons of sugar — two enterprises from Camagüey contributing to the national effort to restore this strategic sector of the country’s economy.

With smoke once again rising from its chimney, the Siboney mill of Sibanicú not only restarts its production but also signals the kickoff of the sugar harvest campaign for the entire nation.
