The University of Holguín Graduates 57 New Doctors of Science

In recognition of academic excellence and research rigor, the University of Holguín (UHo) awarded the degree of Doctor of Science to 57 professionals from the region in a ceremony held in the "25th Anniversary" Hall of the Oscar Lucero Moya campus.

The event was attended by Dr.C. Roberto Pérez Rodríguez, president of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, Eastern-Northern Branch; and Dr.C. Aniuska Ortiz Pérez, rector of the university, along with other members of the doctoral committee and the board of directors.

The new graduates, coming from the programs of Educational Sciences, Physical Culture, Technical Sciences, and Philosophical Sciences, will be responsible for training new generations of academic researchers, promoting scientific and investigative work, and generating useful, relevant, and transformative knowledge.

On behalf of the graduates, Dr. Yunior Pupo Leyva expressed gratitude to the professors, administrators, and family members for the support received during their education. He pointed out that "the graduation of Doctors constitutes a cultural and social event of extraordinary value, as well as an essential avenue to enhance effectiveness in fulfilling the university's core processes and its impact on the various localities."

For his part, Dr. Leudis Orlando Vega de la Cruz, Vice-Rector of Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Holguín, emphasized that these academics not only represent a personal and professional achievement but also constitute an essential part of a well-deserved institutional recognition that positions the Holguín Higher Education Institution as a benchmark in doctoral education within Cuban higher education.

"With their training, they integrate into society to contribute to the sustainability of different territories, responding to the demands of National Development and the duty to support the successful implementation of the country's priorities," he concluded.

With this graduation, the University of Holguín reaffirms its commitment to scientific advancement and social development, providing professionals of the highest caliber, trained to generate impactful knowledge and lead transformations in various sectors of Cuban society, in line with the nation’s strategic objectives.
