Races and walks are not postponed, they multiply

Havana.- The Cuban sports movement has demonstrated that its strength lies in the community. From neighborhoods and popular councils, physical activity becomes a space for social integration and collective health.

That is why the National Commission of Marabana-Maracuba Races and Walks does not postpone but rather multiplies this practice from Cabo San Antonio to Punta de Maisí. In doing so, it will also celebrate the 65th anniversary of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation.

Through this initiative, races and walks as part of the sports events in each territory will become a celebration of the movement for this anniversary, where mass participation reaffirms the social character of Cuban sports.

There are abundant examples in small municipalities, where children run alongside their grandparents; in cities, with student groups, clubs, and many more joining as teams. The race also becomes a symbol of unity and resilience.

Sports, from their community grassroots, promote physical activity and neighborhood integration. Every step in these races is a step toward health, happiness, and national cohesion.

In Cuba, since 1959, practicing sports is not a privilege but a right; that is why its roots are in the community.

This is also the reason why races are neither postponed nor delayed, even though the Cacahual–Ciudad Deportiva half marathon will have a new date, which will be announced in due course, so that runners have the necessary time to prepare.
