Another media campaign against Cuba has erupted on social networks and disinformation outlets in recent hours with the aim of creating confusion and turmoil in the Caribbean island, following recent threats from the head of the U.S. regime, Donald Trump.
The new communication crusade insists on repeating that the largest of the Antilles was declared to be in a “state of war” by its National Defense Council, and particularly by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, during a meeting last Saturday, which coincided with a nationwide preparation day aiming to be ready to face a possible enemy attack.
What the malicious adversaries of Cuba on social media and in their libels have not said is that the veteran archipelago has, for a long time, regularly held meetings of the National Council and defense days almost every year.
These activities, in which both military personnel and civilians participate, are part of the strategy of the War of the Entire People created by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in response to the continuous threats of a possible armed intervention by Washington.
Successive administrations of the White House, since the very beginning of the revolutionary process led by Fidel on January 1, 1959, have organized, orchestrated, and carried out all kinds of military actions against the Caribbean nation.
Let us remember, among many others, the mercenary invasion at Playa Girón (Bay of Pigs) in 1961, the Missile Crisis in 1962, the failed assassination attempts against Fidel, and criminal acts such as the bombing mid-flight in Barbados in 1976 of a Cubana de Aviación airplane, which caused the death of 73 innocent passengers.
It is impossible in one article, or even in books, to list all the terrorist acts perpetrated by Washington against the island in 67 years of Revolution, including attacks on its embassies, hotels, and even a daycare center.
On January 3, U.S. forces attacked Venezuela to kidnap President Nicolás Maduro, and among their main targets were Cubans who made up part of the president’s personal security.
In that criminal action, 32 heroic sons of Fidel’s homeland died after an intense uneven battle in which they showed courage and bravery, for which they deserved the posthumous tribute of thousands upon thousands of men, women, youth, and children at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Havana.
To those who spread misinformation and manipulate, it must be reminded once again that Cubans are not deceived by lies and manipulation; moreover, they are accustomed to confronting the powerful empire to the north, which, by the way, they have defeated on more than a few occasions.
What could be worse than a war classified as genocide under international norms is the criminal and intensified economic, commercial, and financial blockade that the U.S. has imposed on Cuba for more than six decades, and its people continue to overcome it.
Ah, and of course, the National Defense Council of the largest of the Antilles will continue to meet, and preparation sessions for the protection of the country will be held at a time when the Trump regime seems to be betting on a dangerous global conflagration.
