Camagüey, February 8th – The Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians (ACTAF) in the province is strengthening as an organization that contributes to the transformation of farms and the implementation of good agroecological practices, stated Odalys Marrero Vallina, president of the Agramontina branch.
In this regard, she mentioned that knowledge management is essential, highlighting the holding of workshops related to soil improvement, climate change, watershed protection, evaluation of silvopastoral systems, forests, and livestock.
Likewise, she noted that the connection with students from primary, basic secondary, polytechnic, and university education is being consolidated through their integration into interest circles and participation in events and contests.
Among the most significant results of ACTAF in the province, she mentioned the increase in managing technical projects in agroforestry activities, which have benefited forest cover and the landscape.
She added that 32 farms have been diagnosed in the territory for evaluation as reference farms, of which only three have received that status, while the rest are in the process of transformation.
Furthermore, she pointed out that farms have been selected for technical projects in silvicultural management and the preparation of more than 300 projects for reforestation, management, and watershed protection.
The work of ACTAF in Camagüey is supported by various organizations, institutions, and individuals, among whom stand out Heriberto Medina Pérez, who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award granted by the organization, and Nelson Figueroa Morell, recognized with the Technical Merit Award 2026.
