Camagüey.- More than 150 pre-university students secured direct admission to their degree programs after winning the IV edition of the Copa Ignacio Agramonte, an initiative aimed at recruiting talented students with specific interests in certain specialties.
This year, placements were awarded in 22 different degree programs, with nearly 300 students competing. According to statements by Dr. C. Yanetsy García Acevedo, the majority of offers included 15 different capacities, with Food Sciences offering 10, while English Language, Psychology, and Geography offered 5 each.
For the first time, English Language and Cybersecurity programs were included in this selection process; the latter was implemented on a regional scale, covering the area from Ciego de Ávila to Guantánamo.
Due to the current electricity situation, the event was held across different territories within the province. In the municipality of Camagüey, there were two venues: IPU Álvaro Morell and IPVCE Máximo Gómez Báez. Students from the remaining municipalities took their exams locally, with the process overseen by the director of the Municipal University Center (CUM).
The event consisted of two stages: a knowledge test—covering mathematics, history, Spanish, biology, chemistry, or English, depending on the chosen specialty—and a second stage focused on skills specific to the selected degree.
