Havana, January 6th – The Editorial Board of La Gaceta de Cuba (LGC), with the sponsorship of the Prometeo Art and Poetry Corporation, has announced through its digital platforms the Poetry Prize and the Prometeo Creation Fellowship 2026.
The submission deadline is February 6th of this year. Interested participants in the Poetry Prize must be Cuban artists residing in the country and must not have received the award in the last three editions. Members of the LGC Editorial Board are not allowed to compete.
Regarding the Prometeo Fellowship, only creators under 35 years of age will be considered. They may submit one or more poems not exceeding 200 verses. Additionally, by registering, authors will also be competing for the main prize, although both awards cannot be given for the same work.
For both competitions, the works must be completely unpublished, not committed to publication, nor competing in any other contest. The use of artificial intelligence will not be accepted, as the aim is to recognize human creation and artistic talent.
Concerning the rewards for the winners, the organizers informed that the recipient of the Poetry Prize will receive five thousand Cuban pesos, publication of the awarded work in LGC, and the opportunity to participate in the Medellín Poetry Festival. Meanwhile, the poem winning the Prometeo Creation Fellowship will be awarded the printing of the submitted work in the Gazette’s pages and will also receive a six-month creation fellowship granting three thousand pesos per month.
