Points in Favor of the Comprehensive Education of Young Children at Home

Nov, 2025 – Preschool education, also known as early childhood, initial, kindergarten, or pre-primary education, encompasses the formative cycle that precedes compulsory primary education in much of the Spanish-speaking world. In some countries, it is part of the official educational system, while in others it is carried out in childcare centers or kindergartens that serve children from birth to six years old.

The fundamental purpose of this educational level is the comprehensive development of young children, covering physical, aesthetic, intellectual, moral, and work-related aspects. In addition, it lays the foundation for solid learning in the subsequent school stage.

In the municipality of Guáimaro, three children's circles operate: two in the municipal seat and one in Pueblo Nuevo. Additionally, there are three small children's homes located in Galvis, Martí, and Cascorro, staffed by specialized educators. Although these institutions cannot meet the entire existing demand, they do ensure care for enrolled children by providing a safe and formative space.

At the same time, a significant portion of the child population participates in the “Educate Your Child” Program, a non-institutional modality designed to serve children from 0 to 6 years old who do not attend circles or small children's homes. This program extends to practically every place where a child is born and grows up, strengthening the bond between the educational system and families, and ensuring that no child is left without support during their early years of life.
