India tests new Agni missile

New Delhi, May 10.- India successfully conducted a flight test of the advanced Agni missile, equipped with a multiple independent reentry vehicle (MIRV) system, according to the Ministry of Defence.

The missile underwent flight tests with multiple payloads, targeting different spatially distributed objectives across a wide geographical area in the Indian Ocean region, according to the military entity.

The source added that telemetry and tracking were carried out by multiple land and naval stations.

These systems tracked the complete trajectory of the missile, from launch to the impact of all payloads, and flight data confirmed that all mission objectives were met during the test, an official statement added.

For the Indian Ministry of Defence, this test once again demonstrated the capability to attack multiple strategic targets using a single missile system.

It was explained that the missile was developed by the laboratories of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), with the support of various industries across the country.

The head of the sector, Rajnath Singh, congratulated the DRDO, the Indian Army, and the industrial sector for the flight test, which he described as successful.

He specified that the new missile will add an extraordinary capability to the country's defensive preparedness in the face of what he considered increasing perceptions of threat.
